Don't miss the End of Summer Reading Celebration for 2006!

Child gets help doing a craftPixie Woods End of Summer Reading Party was held August 12. About 1,240 attended the event which included free rides as well as lunch for all summer reading club participants who completed 12 hours of reading by July 31.

Watching the showOver 1,600 children county-wide qualified to attend the celebration which included food, rides, three free magic shows, and crafts. The park and all the day's activities were open to the public so that participants could bring other family members and friends who could pay to attend.


Entertaining show captivates young audienceThanks to the generosity of the Parks and Recreation Department, Pixie Woods was fully staffed and operated by with more than 35 Parks and Recreation and Library staff members as well as volunteers. The party was generously sponsored by the Library & Literacy Foundation and the Friends of the Stockton Public Library.

To earn their way, children read "around the bases" on their 2005 reading record. Summer Reading began June 1 and ran through July 31.
