On May 1, 2007, the State of California issued an advisory on the need for water conservation. California is susceptible to drought. Resourceful approaches to conserving and storing water have worked in the past. The Library has materials on water-related topics. Here are tips for finding them in the collection. Abstract: This thesis examines the collaborative processes used by the CALFED Operations Group (Ops Group) and the outcomes achieved by these processes. The CALFED Bay Delta Program is a complex partnership of over 20 state and federal agencies that seeks to balance competing needs and interests in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The Ops Group coordinates the operations of the two large water export projects in the south Delta -— the Central Valley Project (CVP) and State Water Project (SWP) -— with environmental and water quality regulations.

- Manages water in the West. Established in 1902, this agency manages dams, powerplants, and canals. The Central Valley Operations Office web site posts water supply reports for area reservoirs under their jurisdiction and information about loss of delta smelt and other fish due to pumping.
- U.S. Drought Monitor
- Tracks data related to drought and presents a map showing the extent and location of drought conditions in the U.S. Maintained by the National Drought Mitigation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
