From September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month.
Learn more about the people and countries that gained their independence during this month.
September 15 is the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries:
In addition, Mexico declared its independence September 16 and Chile on September 18.
Viva la fiesta! A young girl enjoys the parade in Santa Barbara, California, a city which annually celebrates its Hispanic roots with the Old Spanish Days Fiesta.
The term Hispanic refers to Spanish-speaking people in the United States of any race.
