Today, the Carfax database contains over one billion records compiled from over 100 separate sources including motor vehicle departments in the US and Canada, emissions inspection stations, auto auctions, fire and police departments and insurance companies. Just type in your VIN (vehicle identification number) and your zip code and it will find information about your particular vehicle.
