Martin Luther King, Jr. & Malcolm X --
The Meeting Comes to Stockton

In honor of Black History Month, the critically acclaimed play The Meeting will come to Stockton. This powerful drama, written by Jeff Stetson, is about the lives, philosophies, and times of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Pin Points Theatre, of Washington DC, will present two performances. Both performances are scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2005. A daytime performance is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at San Joaquin Delta College's Atherton Auditorium, 5151 Pacific Avenue. The evening performance will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Bob Hope Theatre, 242 E. Main Street. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Martin Luther King, Jr and Malcolm X

The Meeting probes what would have happened if Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X had met before they were assassinated - just three years apart. This intriguing idea is portrayed as a dialog. A hotel room provides a compelling setting for these two prominent men of our recent history, who changed our nation and the world.

The Meeting received a Louis B. Mayer Award, eight NAACP Theater Awards, and six New York AUDELCO nominations. It has been produced throughout Asia, Europe and the United States.

This production is 1 hour and 10 minutes long with no intermissions. Due to the intensity of the subject matter, it is recommended for middle school and high school students, and adults. Tickets are not required for the 11:00 a.m. performance at San Joaquin Delta College. However, tickets will be required for admission to the 7:00 p.m. performance at the Bob Hope Theatre to ensure available seating. For tickets or large group reservations, please contact Peaches Ehrich, (209) 937-8261.
