Bee Tree Inspires Quilt Artist

Quilt Art Inspired by picture book

"Changing white fabric into an image that is alive and colorful and portrays spirit," that is the goal of Peig (Margaret) Fairbrook, local fabric artist.

Peig's latest piece is on display in the Children's Section of the Cesar Chavez Central Library. Its design was based on the picture book The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco.

On March 2, the Library received the second of two decorative quilts, produced by Ms. Fairbrook. It hangs at the central Stockton library, beside the first.

Fairbrook received a grant from the Stockton Arts Commission to produce the quilts. They will travel from branch to branch among the Stockton libraries and will eventually be permanently housed at the central library.
