About the Library

Welcome to the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library in Stockton, California.

The Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library is made up of the Cesar Chavez Central Library and three branch libraries in Stockton, as well as libraries in Escalon, Lathrop, Linden, Manteca, Mountain House, Ripon, Thornton and Tracy. There is Mobile Library service in the County and City of Stockton. The Library also provides Literacy Services, including a mobile family literacy unit.

You can find what the Library has by looking in the library catalog. The catalog also allows you to place reserves for materials online and to see what items you have checked out. Some people come back to the catalog often to see what new materials have been added to the collection. More hints on using the catalog.

The Library is open every day of the week, somewhere in the County, with holiday and other exceptions. (Locations & Schedule).

After hours and on closed days the Library continues to offer services and support through its virtual presence over the Internet. Electronic subscriptions are made available to you in your own home, if you choose. There are also homework help pages, available 24 x 7, for children and teens.
